Tecsee Sapphire V2 Tactile Switch

Introduction

The Tecsee Sapphire V2 is a newer tactile switch offering from Tecsee, replacing the V1 version of the switch. With the V2 iteration comes a different stem, shorter in length and made from UHMWPE instead of POM. This means a longer travel distance (3.8mm vs 3mm) and an ever so slightly lower pitched sound. The stem itself is still longer than say a standard Cherry stem, however the integration with the housings make the Sapphire V2 feel much like any other full travel distance switch, just that it bottoms out on the stem pole instead of the slider. This second variant also features a longer 18mm two-stage gold-plated spring, as opposed to the shorter progressive unit found in the V1. This gives the Sapphire V2 a snappier and more meaty push feel, and at the same time a more audible top-out sound. 

The Sapphire V2, much like the V1 is a medium tactile, with a drawn out P-shaped tactile bump that starts at the very top of the keypress. It strikes a good balance between tactility and comfort, something medium tactile fans would really enjoy. Even though it isn’t the most tactile switch by any stretch of the imagination, the combination of a big bump and immediate feedback makes the Sapphire V2 a very satisfying tactile that you can continue typing on for hours on end. Sound is rather good as well, with a nice neutral and full-sounding bottom out strike.
